100% GENUINE HORN Our gunpowder horns are individually made by hand. Each one is unique and the result of patient craftsmanship by skilled horn makers using only 100% ETHICALY SOURCED REAL HORN, carefully chosen for their beauty, strength, and sturdiness. As with any natural product, the color and shape will have natural variations. No two are the same. The wooden end cap is carefully cut to fit the open end of the horn and after drilling through the pointed end is provided with a tightly fitting plug which is pulled out for loading powder into a muzzle loading shotgun, musket or flintlock rifle. The wood on our powder horn is black walnut or mahogany neither of which absorb water in the rain and therefore keeps the powder dry. The leather strap is cut from one of the split steer hides we have been cutting pieces off of for years.
